Shared inboxes
Shared inboxes that still feel like yours.
Invite teammates to addresses like support@ or billing@. The mail is shared, but reading, starring, or archiving a message only changes your view. Nobody loses track of what they still need to answer, and nobody needs a shared password.
How it works
What shared inboxes does for you
Invite by email
Add a teammate to a shared address from the domain settings. They accept the invitation and the address appears in their inbox. No shared login to pass around.
Personal state on shared mail
Read, starred, archived, and trashed are yours alone. Alice archiving a message never hides it from Bob. Each person can clear their own view without worrying about the rest of the team.
Shared sorting
Whether a message is spam, and which category it belongs to, is decided once for the address. Everyone on it sees the same result. The team works from the same picture of what is real mail and what is noise.
Your own folders
File shared messages into your personal folders without changing where they appear for anyone else. Keep your own system for tracking follow-ups. Your teammates keep theirs.
Access per address
Invite people only to the addresses they need. Someone can answer support@ without seeing billing@. When a person should no longer read an address, remove them and their access ends.
Getting set up
Three steps and you're done
- 1
Create the shared address
Add a mailbox like support@ or billing@ on your connected domain.
- 2
Invite your teammates
Send an invitation to each person who should read the address. Once they accept, it shows up in their unified inbox.
- 3
Answer as a team
Everyone sees the same mail and the same sorting. Reading, starring, and archiving only change your own view.
FAQ
Common questions
Does a shared inbox cost extra per person?
No. Paid plans are a flat monthly price with a set number of mailboxes, and there is no per-seat billing. Sharing support@ with five teammates costs the same as sharing it with one. See the pricing page for the plans.
What happens when someone leaves the team?
Remove their access to the address. The mail stays with the address, and they no longer see it. Everyone else keeps working as before.
If I archive a shared message, does it disappear for everyone?
No. Archiving, reading, starring, and trashing only change your view. Your teammates still see the message as it was for them. This keeps one person's cleanup from hiding mail someone else still needs.
Who decides whether a shared message is spam?
Chebu checks each incoming message once for the address. The spam and category decision is shared by everyone on that address. That way the whole team sees the same Inbox and the same Spam.
Can teammates reply from the shared address?
Yes. When someone replies to a message sent to support@, the reply goes out from support@ by default. Customers see one consistent address, whoever answers.
