Smart sorting

Mail sorted before you open it.

Chebu keeps spam out and splits the rest into Primary, Updates, Promotions, Social, and Forums. It can also file messages into your own folders. You describe a folder in plain words, and Chebu uses that description to decide what goes in.

How it works

What smart sorting does for you

  • Spam stays out

Every incoming message is checked and placed in Inbox or Spam before it reaches your list. Junk doesn't compete with real mail for your attention. You can still open Spam whenever you want to check it.

  • Five clear categories

Primary for people, Updates for receipts and notices, Promotions for marketing, Social for networks, and Forums for groups and lists. Every Inbox message gets exactly one. Start your day in Primary and get to the rest later.

  • Folders that describe themselves

Create a folder like "Receipts: payment confirmations for completed purchases." Chebu reads the description and files matching mail there automatically. No rules to write and no filters to maintain.

  • Choose where sorting applies

Decide which accounts can file into each folder. Personal receipts never mix with company invoices. A folder for one client only picks up mail from that client's address.

  • Always your call

Move any message to a different category or folder when you disagree. Sorting does the routine work, and you stay in control of where mail ends up.

Getting set up

Three steps and you're done

  1. 1

    Let Chebu sort the basics

Incoming mail goes to Inbox or Spam, and Inbox mail gets a category. There is nothing to set up.

  2. 2

    Describe a folder

Create a folder with a name and a plain description, like "Invoices: bills from suppliers that need paying."

  3. 3

    Pick the accounts

Choose which accounts may file into the folder. Matching mail from those accounts lands there automatically, and you can move anything by hand.

FAQ

Common questions

Can I move a message that was sorted wrong?

Yes. Move it to the right category or folder at any time. Sorting handles the routine work, and you always have the final say.

Do folders apply to shared inboxes?

Folders are personal. You can file a shared message into your folder without moving it for anyone else. Your teammates keep their own folders and their own view.

How do I tell Chebu what belongs in a folder?

Give the folder a name and a short description in plain language. For example, "Travel: flight, hotel, and train bookings." Chebu uses that description to decide which incoming messages belong there.

What are the five categories?

Primary is mail from people. Updates covers receipts and notices, Promotions covers marketing, Social covers social networks, and Forums covers groups and mailing lists.

Can I keep a folder to just one account?

Yes. For each folder, choose which accounts and mailboxes may file into it. A company Invoices folder can take mail only from your company address, while your personal mail stays out.
